I was trekking across a field in early spring when I happened to turn around. The high spring winds pushed and twisted the clouds as if forcing them to the ground. I added in the image of the earth later giving it a familiar but otherworldly feel.
I started doing photography in black and white and developing my own work back in my college days. Our teacher was a well known Photojournalist in this area, but as an Artist at heart, he encouraged both as passions to follow. My friends and I leaned heavily towards the visual arts. I shifted to color, and nature photography, years later but still tend to 'see' in black and white so many of my photo's will run from pure white to pure black while including the color spectrum between. Most of my nature photography is done in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and is generally off the traditional tourist path mostly, both figuratively and literally.
